yesterday i went to the peace pagoda
in leverett, MA. i like to try to make it there every year, it is about 1/2 hour from where i live. i went with my friend chelsea and we had some fun taking photos. Pagodas, or stupas, are built to house relics of the Buddha and are common in Buddhist countries. Nipponzan Myohoji is unusual among Buddhist orders in that the ordained are not seeking personal salvation or enlightenment, but the removal of all weapons from the face of the earth.

this is a buddha statue near the pagoda. cambodian new years is this weekend and there is a strange mix of prayer flags and american flags. if anyone needs prayers it is the US...
